A Dc + Marvel Comics Superheroes Movie, is There Hope?
DC Comics and Marvel Comics are the biggest comic books companies. They have both introduced us to people with extraordinary, out of this world, super abilities which we can only dream of. We follow their adventures fervently, as they help those in need, fight villains and save the world. Some of them are ordinary people or “unfortunate” persons who came in contact with unknown chemicals substances or rays which changed them while others come from distant planets/galaxies or are the results of nature taking its course in unexpected directions.
DC Comics was launched in 1934 and has given us The Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Flash and, the most popular ones, Batman and Superman.
Marvel Comics saw the light in 1939 and has brought us Thor, Captain America, Hulk and, the most popular ones, Iron Man and Spider-Man.
During the past few years, we’ve been spoiled with quite a number of our beloved superheroes on the big screen: Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), Hulk (2003), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Superman Returns (2006), Iron Man (2008). It’s a great feeling to see the heroes come to life, made of meat and bones rather than on paper made of ink and color. It must be an honor to play to be part of such a movie. Even as a villain.
Sometimes, characters from different universe will team up on certain occasions (Batman and Superman; Iron Man and Spider-Man), or create some sort of group or association of Superhero where they will be working together. DC Comics has Justice League and Marvel Comics The Avengers. There are movies based on the comic books, Justice League: Mortal and The Avengers, scheduled to be released on 2011 – Talk about competition.
One project which many people would love to see come to life is a movie with DC and Marvel Comics characters combined. They can be friends, foes, competitors, adversaries; doesn’t really matter as long as both worlds get together for a hyper super adventure.
There have been many rumors about such a picture, but that all they were: rumors.
Yet again such a project can’t be easy because we’ve got two competitors who may both want to come out winner by having his/her or their superheroes to be portrayed better, stronger and smarter than the other(s). And it won’t only be about two publishers but also at least two movie studios: Warner Bros and Marvel Studios.
Rumors of the movie were rekindle last August when Stan Lee (creator of Spider-Man, X-Man and Iron Man), had lunch at the Polo Lounge in Beverly Hills with Jon Peters (Producer of Batman Returns and Superman Returns).
In the mean time, all we can do is pray and hope that the anticipation and wait will be worth it and exhilarating.
Personal wishes: Batman and Wolverine; Superman and Iron Man; Superman and Captain America.
