Batman

Batman is one of those superheroes that have reached extremely popular status. There have been comic books, cartoons, movies, and even a television series. There are batman costumes, batman books, batman figurines, and all kinds of batman paraphernalia. What is great about Batman is that he is does not necessarily have super powers. He generally achieves his strength through hard work and technology.

In a way, Batman and other superheroes represent all that we desire to be. When we look at these characters, we see them performing good deeds and we think that if only this type of thing really existed, the world would be a better place. Batman stories have happy aspects to them and most of them tend to resolve themselves. We see good conquering evil and we are able to escape for a little bit from our lives and into something that is made up, but may not entirely be fiction.

And too, Batman is just plain fun. The way he swoops around stealthily like a bat. His highly technological car with the fun gadgets and features. The bat cave where he organizes his operation. In real life Batman is Bruce Wayne, a business man. We like to see that someone with a lot of money is putting that money to good use- to help make his city a better place.

The problem with stories such as Batman is that they could make us believe that unless there are superheroes there will be no good in the world. That is simply not true. There is plenty of good and it is characterized by the people in this world who silently do good things. These are the people who donate their money and time for the greater good. They make aid baskets for homeless people, knit blankets for sick children, and donate money to their churches.

There are so many things people can do, it is a shame when people think that because they are not rich or are not superheroes like Batman that they cannot do anything. If you want to make a difference, all you need to do is find things that you believe in and do your best to fight for them. We can all learn something from Batman and other characters because they represent a society where people are devoted to making the world a better place.
